the blue nudes

the blue nudes were founded by Eric Gregoire and Chris Wight in the early nineties after the dissolution of their previous bands, Velvet Elvis (not to be confused with the midwestern band of the same name) and Scrumptious Joe and the Delicats, cover bands of classic rock and classic R&B, respectively. The blue nudes also started out with an eclectic mix of cover tunes, but quickly moved to create sets comprised mostly of original funk, pop, rock and dance songs.

The initial lineup featured Gregoire and Wight on vocals, guitar and various other capacities, singer Alisun Armstrong (who would soon marry Gregoire), sax wünderkind Chel Illingworth, bass player Aaron MacQueen and drummer Chris Carroll. Dave Jamrog would occasionally provide additional percussion. Drum duties were taken up by the inventive Lamar Myers, Chel left the band and guitar wünderkind Ian “Sex” Jones joined, along with Jason “J-Reel” Reed doing keys, sampling, and rapping. Thus the stage was set for their first, breakthrough, and to date, only album, Hobo Was Here.
