Outopost 7’s first official production was a short produced for MoveOn.org’s Bush in 30 Seconds contest, In My Country. Produced for less than $100, the spot bested 2,000 other entries to be a runner-up in the contest, was viewed around the globe by hundreds of thousands of people, seen on CNN and lauded on NPR. This success led to further election-year work with Rock the Vote and MTV.

The awards event at Manhattan’s Hammerstein Ballroom was hosted by comedian Janeane Garofalo and featured appearances and performances by, among others, Margaret Cho, Chuck D, Al Franken, Moby, Michael Moore, Rufus Wainwright, and Julia Stiles.
